I specializes in connecting businesses with their environment, in particular the natural environment. As an Ecoprenuer, I am an ecologically-focused entrepreneur. Raised on a New Zealand dairy farm and with a PhD in Geodesy (read expert in GPS Technology and Mapping) my career has connected me with all the continents of the world, from surveying at the South Pole to nature conservation projects in the tropics. I have been recognised with the Award of Merit for my work on the International Border between Ethiopia and Eritrea, voted the best conference presentation (topic: quality assurance) and is active on numerous business sustainability committees.

Through my surveying experiences I have witnessed the destruction of unique natural environments which could have be avoided with more sustainable design and build options. These experiences have focused me on this journey of speaking to others about the beauty of nature and how we can all live and work in harmony with our natural environment. I have lived in New Zealand, Australia and Hong Kong and travelled extensively. I have spoken with groups such as Land Surveyors, Property Owners/Developers, Rotarians, Entrepreneurs and School Classes.

Making Business Easier between Hong Kong and New Zealand

Hong Kong-New Zealand Closer Economic Partnership

This is your chance to put forward ideas and experiences which can help formulate agreements to make doing business between the countries more effective and efficient.

I have been asked to attend a roundtable discussion with the New Zealand Negotiation team on Mon 2 March.

If you are reading this after that date still let me know your ideas as there will be other opportunities to feed into the negotiations.

Looking forward to hearing your ideas on what barriers, difficulties or frustrations you have had or heard about in providing products or services in Hong Kong.

Here is a little more background.

New Zealand commenced a 'Closer Economic Partnership' (CEP) negotiation with Hong Kong in 2001. Talks were suspended in late 2002 after five rounds of negotiation. The two countries maintained a constructive relationship over the intervening years, supported by close business, educational and other ties. Following informal discussions, both Parties have agreed to resume negotiations towards a CEP and they are hopeful that it will be possible to find a way through the difficulties which led to the suspension.

Officials will meet in Hong Kong in early March 2009 for preparatory discussions with the first full round of resumed negotiations planned to take place in New Zealand in late April/early May.

Businesses and stakeholders with an interest in Hong Kong are encouraged to provide feedback on their areas of particular interest. This feedback will be taken into account as the mandate for resumed negotiations is determined.

Connecting Asian Ecopreneurs

Welcome to the Asian blogspot for connecting Ecopreneurs!

I value your time and realise that as an Ecopreneur you are in a very exciting position.

For those of you who are not familiar with the goals of an Ecopreneur, they are based around the vision, and action, of connecting businesses with nature conservation. Put another way, there is no point in businesses making huge profits if their process for making those profits result in their shareholders (and fellow citizens) not having a beautiful world in which to enjoy their success.

The excitement comes from seeing the growing change in the business community to further support the health of our planet.

As an Ecopreneur in the Asian region I would love to hear how you are assisting the goals of ecopreneurship and to be connected with those people and businesses that you know who are making a real difference to the environmental health of people and nature.
